Treasure our Reunions

Pastor Chris Chia reflects on & and reinvests our family reunions with God’s truth as a quarter of the world celebrates Lunar New Year today.
For families who
have been separated,
our Reunion Dinners
are understandably filled
with unspeakable joy.
Our hearts are filled
with sincere thanks
for rekindled kinship.
For families who
routinely dine together,
our Reunion Dinners are
but another meal.
Our hearts are dulled
with little thanks
for repeated rituals.
For families who
have lost loved ones,
our Reunion Dinners
are painfully flooded
with teary memories
of our departed loved ones.
For families who
are about to lose loved ones,
our Reunion Dinners
are increasingly silenced
with insecure thoughts
of our uncertain tomorrows.
Wherever your family
may be on the
Reunion Pathway,
may we be enlightened
that God has paid
the highest price
of Reconciling us
to Himself
through Jesus.
“All this is from God,
who through Christ
reconciled us to himself
and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
that is, in Christ God was
reconciling the world to himself,
not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting
to us the message of
reconciliation.”
(2 Corinthians 5:18-19)
So let us pray to not
squirm at or squander away
another temporal Reunion
as Jesus’ messengers of
eternal Reconciliation.
Amen.
