A Good Friday Meditation

Who will hang around proud people who cannot acknowledge our own haughtiness which judges others and crushes our loved ones?

Jesus did and Jesus will.

Who will put up with spiritually blind folk who cannot see the log in our own eyes even up close but can spot the speck in others’ from a far distance?

Jesus did and Jesus will.

Who will welcome recalcitrant wrong doers who keep trying self improvement to do good but keep failing repeatedly, and helplessly, to do right?

Jesus did and Jesus will.

Who will expose themselves to the sick at the greatest risk – from morning to night – when he came from a place with no disease?

Jesus did and Jesus will.

Who will stand up to fight the most fearsome war against God’s arch enemy to set his hopeless captives free?

Jesus did and Jesus will.

Who will offer us heaven with God for eternity when what we truly deserve is a destiny forever without God?

Jesus did and Jesus will.

Who will promise to never leave us or forsake us when we feel so abandoned and so alone from being hated and vilified by the world?

Jesus did and Jesus will.

Good Friday commemorates God’s offer of his deepest love for us when we waved our darkest rebellion against him.

Will you humbly confess your sin and humbly accept Jesus as your Saviour and Lord?
